I'm in [or was in] NOLA!

Check out the yummy sunshine!!!! This was on my way home from a entirely too busy weekend in October! I'll take you through it. Friday I worked [nursing] from 7a-7p, got off and drove 3.5 hours to San Antonio for my uncle's 50th birthday party. Later went out to Downtown SA to celebrate for the first time since I've turned 21 with my cousins. Got home to my other uncle and aunts house around 3a. Woke up at 7a to leave by 730a to New Orleans, LA, a 8 hour drive from SA [i know crazy!] Once my mom and I got there I immediately met up with my clients for their engagement session. I ended up knowing the guy, small world! [Their session will be up soon] Once the session was over, My mom and I went to dinner then explored Bourbon St. It was so much fun! We then proceeded to our free hotel room [Complimentary of my clients =)]. The next morning we got up early, explored Downtown NOLA a little more and then headed home around 2p, got home around 8p, got ready for bed because I had work the next morning at 645a! Phew it makes me tired just remembering it! But we had such a great time in NOLA. It was the 1st time I had ever been there and I loved the culture of it. NOLA reminded me a lot of Venice Beach, CA.

On the way to NOLA from TX on I10 there are these amazing bridges and so many swampy looking areas! I wanted to stop the car so many times but as I said before it was a busy weekend.

Triple Scoop

I had the honor of taking pictures of the Triple Scoop!!! I work with their wonderful mom, Stephanie. When she received her CD she immediately printed the photos and showed them off all over our unit and none the less, got me more business =)

The triple scoop was about 9 months when I snapped these photos, this sunday I'm going to their 1st birthday party! I can't believe so much time has already passed. These kiddos, Catherine, Colton and Cash, are so incredibly sweet and well behaved. I have to admit, it was a tough job doing this shoot because we had to haul the babies everywhere we went. I think I gained some muscles after that!

This photo is one of my favorites! It's so funny how this happened. We sat Catherine up, she got a little fussy so we gave her a flower then slowly she started to slump or and THIS is what came out of it! Future model on our hands!

Here's a little tiny sneak peak into my last wedding of the year! It really was a winter wonderland. On the stage of the church there were about a dozen christmas trees so Bekah, Conor and I decided to take advantage by doing this.... =)

Leslie and Bellaboo

Wow I am waaaaay behind in blogging [as usual]. These pictures are from September! I need to make blogging a weekly thing or I will forever be catching up. This is Bella. I met her momma Leslie about 2 years ago in nursing school and let me just say that we hit it off right away! We instantly became really close friends! I can just sit and talk to her for hours about our crazy lives! At the time she was pregnant with her 2nd baby girl, Madeline. Madeline is here now and looks just like Bellaboo looked when she was a baby. Leslie has such a cute little family. Leslie is a brand new nurse working in the ER and her hubs Ryan is a new doctor working in radiology! It's been so much fun watching them grow into a super adorable little family and I love them!

Drew B is an AMAZING photographer!!!! She started a blog called MomTog for mom's who love photography! It's one of my favorite blogs! She gives great advice on how to make the most of what you already have. Drew offers tons of tips for anyone who wants to pick up a camera! She also posts lots of photos of her cutie B! I don't have my own kiddos but I my godson and my pup ceas are my babies!!! Besides every time the world needs an extra touch of love and gentle caring God creates a godmother =)

Baby Doll's Sweet 16

I don't even know Baby Doll's real name (is that bad?) I met her when I photographed my friend Michelle's wedding. I also did a family session with Baby Doll's family. We had planned on taking pictures of her with her dress but unfortunately it wasn't ready =( So we just did a quick little session. I felt so bad because the mosquitos were being crazy that day. I think I literally got bit about 500 times!

Tripp is 1!

I got lucky to have two 1yr old shoots in a day and both of the cuties had beautiful blue eyes! Tripps are like an ice blue! His mommy and daddy have brown eyes and brown hair so I had to ask where Tripp got his blue eyes and blonde hair from. His daddy's hair used to be that way when he was a little boy. Hopefully Tripp won't change! Happy Birthday!

Amandaboo is Preggo!

Amanda is one of my best friends from nursing school! I met her when she asked me to be her photographer for her family photos, engagement shoot and wedding! We grew closer and closer throughout our last year of nursing school. I am so excited to meet little Mason. He should be making his debut any day now =)

Bekah and Conor are engaged ♥

So....you may remember seeing Conor as Best Man in his big brother Joe's wedding. He also was the best man in his best friend Daniel's wedding (I also photographed that wedding but it was before my blogging days). That's where I met this hilarious couple....the second time! The first and only hockey game I have ever been to I witnessed Conor proposing to Bekah! That was in the beginning of my photog days and I think I took a picture of it just because it was extremely sweet! They called her to the rink (field, court what ever you call it in hockey lol) and he proposed to her in front of everyone during halftime. It almost brought tears to my eyes. Im pretty sure I took a picture but can't seem to find it anywhere in all of my old folders. If I find it I will be sure to post it =) Anywho, after the game I met them and told them congratulations. A couple years later I meet them at a wedding, Bekah finds me on Myspace and her default caught my eye! It was from the hockey game! I immediately messaged her to tell her the news! Small world huh?!

They are another couple that has been together forever =) Conor suprised Bekah with Salsa dance classes for one of their anniversaries.

haha they crack me up!

I love that they were up for anything! I told you they were hilarious!

Somehow I convinced them to ride the ferris wheel...it was so much fun =)

Then we headed to play some games and he won her a prize!

Joey and her BLING!

Joey is engaged!!! Joey is an OB/GYN. She is everything you would ever want in a Dr. that is going to bring your baby into the world. She is genuinely sweet, extremely intelligent, has the bedside manner of a nurse and truly cares about her patients. I met her when I was in my preceptorship during school. I assisted her with a dressing change and ever since then we've been friends. One day she showed up to work with this huge ring on and I remember thinking "is that new? Was she already engaged and I just didn't know or is this recent?" She must have seen me eyeing it because then she said " Did I tell you I'm engaged?!" I am so happy for her, she deserves the best!

Did I mention Joey is gorgeous?

I told her to give me attitude and this is what I got along with "Kaylaaaa, I don't really have any attitude" lol

Racheal's Baby Bump!

Racheal is one of my very good friends! I went to high school with her sisters and one night I met her and we discovered that we were both going to the same nursing school, UTMB. Ever since then we started car pooling and studying together. We went through so much together in our last semester. I still remember the day she told me she was pregnant. She had just come over one sunday morning to study for a test. When I offered her some burritos she turned them down and said her stomach was upset because she was pregnant! Well the days of her pregnancy flew by (for me at least) while we graduated and started the same job together! One day in the midst of our busy schedules we decided to do a maternity shoot and I was ecstatic! I asked her where she wanted to go and she said she didn't care so I took her to this location I had been eyeing every day on the way to work.

This is Trey, he has the cutest voice and personality! Don't you think he looks just like Rach?

Rachie is so gorgeous!!!

Update: Mr. Riley is already here and almost a month old!!! I'm sure we'll be doing a shoot sometime soon of him so keep checking back because he is a super cutie =)

Christy and Joe's Wedding

I know I know, It's been forever since I've blogged. As you all know I started working as a Labor and Delivery nurse so I have been extremely busy with work, photography, editing and trying to get a enough sleep to have energy to do it all! So now I am determined to catch up on editing and blogging =) Here is Christy and Joe's wedding. They are such a cute couple! They have been together for 10 years! You might remember them from their engagement shoot! This is what I found the guys doing when I first arrived at the church.....

Lately we have been in a drought in Tx. The other day while taking Ceas outside I noticed little dandelions scattered throughout our brown, what I thought to be, lifeless yard. Right away I grabbed my camera and snapped this photo. For those of you who don't know I recently graduated from college in April. I turned 21 in May. I started working as a Labor and Delivery nurse in June and I love every minute of it =) Since I am now making way more then I ever made in my life I was able to save enough to buy myself a .....drum roooooolllll.......Cannon 50D!!!!! I'm so excited! I loved my old big point and shoot but now I feel a tiny bit more 'official' as a photographer. Now that I have the means I really want to open up my own business, go to cool work shops to learn more and do super neat mentoring sessions with DrewB!!! But I have no idea where to start? Any suggestions??? I think I am in a good place in life right now. I love my new job, I love finally being 21, I love all of my family and friends, I love my clients and patients and I love my puppy Ceas [in no particular order]. Two of my best friends and I just started working out again after 3 months off. It feels so refreshing. I feel like I am beginning a new chapter in my life and this picture reminds me how beautiful it can be =)

Melissa is one of my new co-workers and my new wonderful job. The first day we were put on the unit [by the way I am a Labor and Delivery nurse] I was 'stuck' with Melissa since my preceotor wasn't there. Little did I know that we would instantly hit it off! She is one of the best preceptors I have had and she is so cool! Well about a week later she's precepting me again and I tell her about my little photography business I have going on and before she even sees any photos she asks me to do a photo shoot of her and her baby girls! So of course I said yes! We went out to Helen's Garden.

We were there a whole 25 minutes before it got too hot and little Alana wasn't having fun any more. It was 9 in the morning and it was still too hot......oh how I miss California!

Dustin turns 5!

Happy Birthday to Dustin! About 2 weeks ago i went over to my friend Crystal's parents house to take pictures for her oldest little boy's bday party! It was so much, they had a moonwalk with a waterslide, good food, lots of friends and the coolest cake ever!

Happy 4th of July!!!

Happy 4th of July everyone!!!!

I know I am late but I actually took these super cute photos of my baby godson Joe a couple days before. I was babysitting him on my day off and he was being a bad boy! I think he is starting to get seperation anxiety from his mom. He's just turned 10 months old and his mom [my best frind] recently quit working since she's 7 weeks away from giving birth to her new baby girl Emma. He wouldn't stop crying once he realized that his mom was gone. I tried everything I could think of to calm him down. Nothing was working so I figured it was just seperation anxiety and told my mom that we should try to ignore his behavior and see if that helps. Sure enough after throwing a fit for a couple of minutes he realized that the bad behavior wouldn't fly with his nina Kaykay. I picked him up and he was just so calm and over it....so we cuddled. Later my mom brought out some beads for him to play with and he LOVED them. Instantly I thought 'let's do a 4th of July photoshoot! We picked out only the red, white and blue beads and undressed him to his diaper. We used a blue towel as the back drop underneath him and the wall as the back backdrop. Does that make sense? I love this little boy. Not only is it perfect for independence day.....but it was also perfect because his dad is deployed to iraq right now.

Joe had so many questions for me the first few times we emailed. He wanted to make sure that I would be the best photographer for their wedding in 2 weeks! I didn't meet them until this session and we immediately hit it off. They have been together for 10 yrs and are finally tying the knot =) We decided to shoot at Helen's garden and league city park because of the romantic feel!

Salinas Family

Michelle and I went to highschool together and she was my 'Big Sister" while we were on the dance team. A couple years later she called me about taking some engagement photos of her and Mark. They were actully the 1st couple I had photographed for moola =) A couple of months later I hotographed Michelle and her little sister Dakota for mother's day. Then I did their wedding, and christmas pictures! So I guess I can consider myself her personal photographer! I love Michelle and Mark, they are one of my favorite coupls to photograph because they are soooo much fun! You can always see the love and playfullness in their photos. They are always down to try anything! Most recently she called me to take photos of her new family! We wanted to try a new spot since we had been all over Galveston and Houston in previous shoots. I suggested Kemah Boardwalk. I have never done a photoshoot there before. It seemed like a fun place for a family shoot. She asked the familia and they agreed...Here are the photos!

Lynelle and Ralph are married!

2 days before their wedding my Mom's friend Joe [who is like my 2nd dad] called me up asking if I were available to photograph a wedding that Saturday! I checked my schedule and figured I would squeeze it in even though I started my first real job that Monday and had my last day of work at the church the next morning. It was a challenge though because I prefer doing my sessions with natural lighting. The pictures just come out better that way, and my flash doesn't work that great. I told Lynelle that before she decided to hire me because I was really concerned when she said the wedding was from 8-10pm! But she told me I just want ONE good picture, so I said ok I can do that! lol Supposedly she didn't even want to have a wedding. So without further ado here are some of my favorites..... oh yea and you will notice that I borrowed people's flash hehe. Everytime I saw someone getting their camera out I would hurry and focus so I could grab the shot =)

Esther and Ric are engaged ♥

I've known Esther for a couple of years now. I met her while I was going to school at C.O.M. and we have kept in touch since! She and Ric have known each other all their lives because their families were friends and now they are engaged!!! They were so cute! Ric just learned how to dance so we took a lot of dancing pictures =) We started on the Strand (Galveston,TX)....

Every time I go to do a session in Galveston I find something new like this cool vintage looking wall!

Then we went to the little sunflower field =) Esther's grandma LOVES sunflowers so we had to take a few shots here.

Then off to the beach, it's not the greatest but it's good enough for a great picture

Esther really wanted a picture like this but what's ironic is she is actually a little bit taller than Ric!

They had a hard time making a ♥ but after some practice we got the shot!

I love this field of flowers so of course I had to suggest we go play in them and they were totally up for it!

Two graduations

Friday I went to 2 graduations, back to back! It always makes me soooo happy to see another person graduate! Whether it be from high school, college or even kindergarten!! I think education is one thing that everyone should invest in! The first graduation I went to was Seth's. Seth is 5 and is my SBF (soul mate best friend-Monique)'s little brother. I have known him almost all of his life and he is such a cutie!!! Here are his photos:

And this is Seth with his little girlfriend....Sarah (my friend that looks like me and that I call my twin) and I used to be considered his gf's but I guess now that he is 5 he moved on. lol

The second graduation I attended was for my sister Kyle....She isn't my real sister but we were sisters in Stingarettes (High school dance team) and it just kinda stuck. I am soooo sooo soooo proud of her. She graduated from College of the Mainland with an Associate of Arts degree!!!! She aspires to one day be a chiropractor....but her real passion is to be a vet! While I was there I noticed I knew a couple more people who graduated! So here is a shout out to Ian, Mickey and Johnny!!!!!

Whatcha got cookin?

Today my mom and I were sitting on the couch thinking about what to eat for dinner. When I thought 'Let's make tortilla soup!' I love tortilla soup from Luna's but lately they have started to put all kinds of what I like to call 'unnecessary veggies' in it. I'm really picky so we had to basically make up our own recipe and let me tell you it came out soooooooooo good =) I snapped this shot of Ceas stalking us while we were making dinner. This is the face he makes when he wants us to let him in.
Later I watched the Rocket vs. LAKERS playoff game 5!!!! Man it was a blowout! I knew that was going to happen but all the red rocket fans were so sure they were going to win since we gave them a chance last game. I updated my status on myspace before the game to 'California Loveeeeeee...Beat the rockets!' and my wonderful cousin Tony commeted back 'That's right Kay Kay. If I were in Tx I would listen to the girl with the degree ya'll' LOL I thought it was hilarious, but he's right....why not listen to the one with [2] degrees?? I can't help it I'm from the best state around that happens to have some B.A. teams!!!!! [BTW I'm from Cali] Here is some fast facts that I found online...

Best Friend and my Lovebug

The other day my best friend, Grecia, and my lovebug [a.k.a my godson a.k.a baby joe] had one of our monthly slumber parties! The next morning was his 8 months birthday! It amazes me how big he is getting! He is sooo strong and literally has the ability as a 9 1/2 month old. He sits up, crawls, stands while holding furniture, talks his baby talk and is almost walking! To celebrate his bday we had a mini shoot in my backyard. He liked being outside, sitting on the grass for the 1st time and he LOVED my pitbull Ceasar [whom I'm sure will be in plenty of my blogs because he is my baby]. They were so intrigued by each other. My best friend is also preggo again so be on the look out for pregnancy photos =)
